This Quick Pickled Red Onions Recipe is good to quickly pickle some onions to top a burger or sandwich.
Months ago my boyfriend’s cousin mentioned in passing that it was pretty simple to quickly pickle something. My history of pickling something was non-existent so it just sounded daunting, like canning. FYI – I haven’t canned anything either. Fast forward to the other weekend when my boyfriend and I visited a nursery nearby, City Farmer’s Nursery. It’s an adorable nursery with farm animals, a variety of plants to buy, and a quaint restaurant – Nate’s Garden Grill. At Nate’s you can get this cheeseburger that’s so simple: patty, lettuce, tomato, and pickled red onions.
Those pickled red onions leveled up that basic burger so much so that I thought to myself, “I have to learn to pickle onions.” Which brings me to today when I tried it out. What did I find out? Quick Pickling Onions is SUPER EASY! So quick and easy that I don’t even know if there should be a recipe. It basically translated to cut up onion, pour vinegar, let it sit. For all those who don’t quite know where to start (like myself) I present to you the Quick Pickled Red Onions Recipe.
The Pictorial Process

Quick Pickled Red Onions

- Cover and place in refrigerator. Let sit for at least 1 hour before eating.
- NOTES

The Taste Test
The onions can be used after 1 hour of sitting in the vinegar mixture, but I prefer the onions after they’ve been marinating overnight. Like I said before, it goes great with any sandwich or burger. They’d also jazz up avocado toast or eggs Benedict. The onion doesn’t get too tangy. Trust me my boyfriend does not like vinegar, but he’ll gobble up these pickled onions. These will be a staple in our fridge and best of all they’re SUPER EASY TO MAKE!
Thanks for stopping by and until next time, eat well!
